Battle of Wills...

Usually naptime is not a fight in our house.  Granted Easton rarely asks to take a nap but he generally goes down pretty easily...He's a busy boy and is almost always asleep before I close his door......HOWEVER, today is not one of those days (I do admit I'm partly to blame, I did let him take a nap in our bed.  Note to self: This is what happens when you steer clear of your routine!)...The following is NOT an exaggeration...

1st attempt to get out of nap (Roughly 5 minutes elasped):
Charm & cuteness turned on full blast, hops down the hall...Donning a big smile, child says, "Mom, I had a REALLY good nap. I feel MUCH bedder."  I humor him (I did put him down a little early), I turn Yo Gabba Gabba on, let him lay in our bed thinking he'll conk out in a few (He ran around at the park with Katelyn for over an hour, he's exhausted!)....

2nd attempt (Roughly 25 minutes later):
Skipping down the hall with a huge grin...."Mom!? You know what we should buy? A Yo Gabba Gabba game! I think it will be fun!"  "Okay, you can ask Daddy.  Let's go back to bed." Put him back in my bed, no tv on, sing "Twinkle, Twinkle",  tell him not to get up, close the door.

3rd attempt: (Roughly 10 minutes later):
Cries & "Mommy!!" coming from my room...
"Are you okay buddy?"
"No I'm scared! What was that noise?" (No clue what he's talking about...is he hallucinating because he's so tired?!)
Trying to calm him down quickly..."Something fell down out front."
 "Oh, what fell?"
 "Ummm, a book."
"Oh, what book?"
"Ummm (crap...one white lie leads to another!!)...one of Daddy's books."
 "Oh, what Daddy's book?"   SERIOUSLY!!!??
"One of Daddy's school books."
"Oh, where did you put it?"
OMG! Is he for real!!? (Trying not to laugh) "I put it in his closet."
"Oh, okay."
Sing Twinkle one last time...close the door.
Whew!

Zoo.

Last week we took Easton to the zoo with Jeff, Kristine, Michael & Max. The boys had a great day. It was really cute to see their amazement at the animals...particulary the polar bears and the Galapagus tortises.

Our new nephew....

Meet the newest addition to our family...Logan Matthew Bueno. Michelle & Anthony welcomed their son to the world June 4. He's super cute, has TONS of hair & is loved beyond words! Aren't those cheeks just looking soooo kissable? (Logan's not Matt's! Although his are kissable too!)

Actual Conversation...

After taking only about a 30 minute nap, Easton was in an extraordinarily goofy mood yesterday. We were on our way to rent a movie & he was clearly in his own little world in the backseat. Matt jokingly said, "You're crazy Dude!" To which Easton replied, "What you said!!??" Matt repeated, "I said, 'You're crazy!'".... Easton happily says, "Oh! Thanks!!"

Bedtime.

After reading Easton "Goodnight Gorilla" (GREAT bedtime story by the way!) I was tickling his back & singing (ever so beautifully...) "Twinkle Twinkle" (a nap & bedtime MUST!!!).  I told him, "Good Night Buddy, I love you." He oh so sweetly whispers, "I love you, Mama"....Ahhhh so, sweet....melts your heart right?....Then he starts to giggle....Here it comes..."But you're not my buddy...DADDY'S my buddy!" Ouch!!! Always one with a quick comeback, I say, "Daddy's your buddy and I'm your best friend (waaaaaaaay better than "buddy" anyways!)" Equally as quick, he answers, "Nope!" I run through every synonym of buddy with no luck.... I'm just "Mama".
I just realized I used alot of parenthesis (that's weird) :)
